Torn Oblique to sideline him for 4-8 weeks
Chris Carpenter had pitched 10 scoreless innings this season, then he went to field a ground ball and felt a twinge in his side. Turned out he had a torn oblique muscle. Not good for Carpenter or the Cardinals.
Sidenote: BL picked Carpenter to win the NL Cy Young, and picked the Cardinals to win their division. Sorry Cards fans.
